My vote is for the Beretta Stampede but the Uberti's and US assembled Uberti's are all very good albeit sometimes not as pretty, and can generally be had for less money.

Thanks Ag,
Yes, the Colt is made in .44 Special, and .44-40.
Perhaps I should rephrase my question. What is the best SAA that is NOT a Colt? I would love a Colt .44 Spc, but not sure I want to afford one. I still have 8 of my

I've never seen a Colt SAA in .44spec. I know I've seen a copy in .44 spec but I don't remember which. Several manufacturers offer models in .44-40. No offense TEXVETNAM, but unless that Colt is an authentic 1st or 2nd gen SHOOT THAT

Thanks Tex,
What will that religious icon of a Colt .44 run me? $900? If so, I just may have to boil some missionaries and get a Navy Arms or some other European model. >grin<
I kind of figured that the .44 special

ShootSS It ain't how you shoot, its what you shoot. 250 Grains at 900 fps is the same downrange as any 250 grains of lead. What's left is what separates guns from GUNS. I have a Colt SAA in the safe but it has never been fired or even

Thanks Tig. I'll await his response.
Hey Tex, I wish I could tell you why I want one. I just do. My problem is that the vast majority of them are either in .357 or .45 Long Colt. My preference is the .44 Special because in a pinch, I can

ShootSs, Always boils down to what you want - or - need it for. If it is for plinking, hunting, competition, protection. Watch out or you will wind up like the rest of us and have more than one firearm for each of the above. Come to think about it but what's wrong with that?
P.S. we aren't independantly wealthy for the same reason.

Are any of you interested in the old Colt SAA or the knock offs? For some reason, I have a new interest in them and NOT for cowboy action shooting.
There are many brands, Colt (of course, if you are independantly wealthy), Uberti,
