No. The 44-40 is a tapered or botlenecked cartridge, the 44 Special is a straight walled cartridge, a 44 Special could probably fit and be fired, but the case would split. wich is bad bad ju ju. kind of like trying to fire a 9mm out of a .380 or a 22 mag out of a .22LC weapon......just bad ju ju lol

I know you can shoot .44 Special in a .44 mag, but can you shoot the .44 Spc in a revolver that is chambered for .44-40?
